ASRG Mailing List Information
The ASRG has two main public mailing lists, one high traffic list for discussion and another low traffic one for announcements. Different subgroups within the ASRG also operate their own mailing lists which may or may not be public.
Subscribing
To subscribe to the announce list, please send an email to asrg-announce-request@ietf.org with the word "subscribe" in the subject, or visit this page. To subscribe to the discussion list, please send an email to asrg-request@ietf.org with the word "subscribe" in the subject, or visit this page.

To join a mailing list of an ASRG subgroup, see the subgroup's page for instructions. Some lists have closed membership and require permission of the subgroup chair(s) or ASRG chairs to join.
Archives
Archive of the announce list is available at the this page, archive of the discussion list is available this page. You can also visit Gmane.org to search the archives. There is also a RSS feed of the discussion list provided by MailBucket.org.

William Leibzon has an old unofficial summary of the discussion list covering March 2003 through May 2003. Pete Sergeant of the Virus Bulletin Magazine maintains unofficial monthly summaries of the main discussion list starting from October of 2003.

Archives for active subgroups can be found at the homepage of each subgroup. Archives for closed subgroups, can be found at the subgroups page. You can find all of ASRG lists archives at Gmane. Archives of some 2003-2004 sublists hosted at Kavi are available here.
Moderation Policy
Most individual posts to the main discussion list are NOT moderated on post by post basis. However, in accordance with section 5.3 of RFC 2014 (BCP 8), the moderators and chairs may at their discretion moderate posting privileges of participants who ignore posting guidelines, start making frequent flame attacks or otherwise disrupt the activities of the group. In specific cases, the chairs may choose to revoke posting priviliges completely, and/or remove specific members from the list.
Posting Guidelines for the Discussion List
All conversation on the main discussion list (asrg@ietf.org) must be regarding one of the work items outlined in the ASRG Research Agenda document. The subject of each email should begin with the number of the appropriate work item. For example, "1c. - Spam Measurement Survey Requirements" or "3 - Proposal for hash-based traceback system". Items that do not fit into any of those categories should be marked as "0. General - <particular topic>". The list volume makes it difficult to follow individual conversations and to filter the noise, and following these guidelines helps to eliminate both problems.

This is a research group. If you have constructive feedback, please share it in an appropriate manner. If you just feel like saying that "spam can not be stopped" or "this group will fail because I said so", then you should state those things elsewhere.

NOTE: ASRG subgroups may have additional posting guidelines and policies for their lists. Additional information is listed at the homepage of each subgroup.
