ASRG History
The ASRG was founded in March of 2003 and held its first meeting at the 56th IETF in San Fransisco. The first ASRG chair was Paul Q. Judge of Ciphertrust, Inc. He was joined in the August of 2003 by Yakov Shafranovich of SolidMatrix Technologies, Inc. In November of 2003, Paul Q. Judge stepped down and was replaced by John R. Levine of Taughannock Networks. On May 21st, 2004 Yakov Shafranovich stepped down as ASRG co-chair.
Charter
The initial ASRG charter concentrated on the concepts of "consent" and "consent-based communications". This charter served the group from March of 2003 until December of 2003. In December of 2003 a new charter was published to better reflect the reality of the anti-spam world and the ASRG, and in order to better serve the needs of the group.
